Kate says: 4 stars “I love this movie! “The Princess and the Frog” will surely take it’s place in the Disney Classics line-up. What do you do when animation has become so realistic that the only way to make it more realistic is to loose the animation and use real people? You go old school again and return to the glory of the hand drawn era. This movie is pure fun and Disney Princess fantasy, using the same tried and true formula as the past classics. And I say hooray for that!”
Ebert says: 3 stars ” The opening scenes of Disney’s “The Princess and the Frog” are like a cool shower after a long and sweaty day. This is what classic animation once was like! No 3-D! No glasses! No extra ticket charge! No frantic frenzies of meaningless action! And . . . . good gravy! A story! Characters! A plot! It’s set in a particular time and place! And it uses (calm me down here) lovingly hand-drawn animation that proceeds at a human pace, instead of racing with odd smoothness. I’m just gonna stand here and let it pour over me.” (read full review)
Roger Moore (Orlando Sentinel) says: 4 stars “Disney’s The Princess and the Frog is an instant classic and one of the year’s best films. An enchanting story told with a healthy helping of heart, it marks a return to the style of animation that made Walt Disney’s studio famous.” (read full review)
Michael Phillips – Talking Pictures (Chicago Tribune) says: 2 1/2 stars “How can a good-looking animated feature with a Randy Newman song as kicky as “When We’re Human” end up being just sort of … all right?” (read full review)
Rotten Tomatoes says: 83% “Consensus: The warmth of traditional Disney animation makes this occasionally lightweight fairy-tale update a lively and captivating confection for the holidays.”
