But a funny thing happened several weeks ago. Hannah  and I were minding our own business when Summer came over to announce that they’d purchased a house. What?!?! I thought you weren’t leaving me!! I thought we had a deal, here!!

Then she made me an offer I simply couldn’t refuse. With that said, we made plans. I’d move to their house, and they’d move to their new house, which is thankfully in walking distance but still not quite close enough for my likings. But I’ll burn that bridge later

The big closing was scheduled for last Wednesday, but we all know the saying about the best laid plans, right? Bottom line, I’ve finished moving almost everything as of today, and I think Summer will agree that we’re both dealing with 90 miles of bad road, as it were. In fact, I’m writing this post on my laptop, which is positioned nicely on top of several cardboard boxes. Namely because I can’t find my desktop computer mouse. Which of course is irrelevant since I can’t get into my home office, anyway. I mention all this because, well, Kate started it. Alluding that if I somehow didn’t post anything this week that she’d label me a slacker (oh, yes, Kate. I remember )

But that’s the least of my worries. Last night, I spent a solid 30 minutes looking for a pencil so Colton could do his homework. We’re so sick of fast food that our heads may explode if anyone mentions ordering a pizza. Did I mention that we moved in torrential rains, with thunder, lightning and tornado watches during which grown men walked across the metal U-Haul ramps, carrying all our worldly possessions ? Or that Summer and her family still had dishes washing in the dishwasher as we were moving in? Hee, hee.

I guess that’s always the way, though. Because it’s never just about moving and the fact that everything that can go wrong may well do it. Nor is it about timing or weather conditions or scheduling. It’s about all that is really important in life. Without the help of childhood friends (that would be you, Darren and Grant), a bff/website partner (that would be you, Kate), and the best neighbors and friends  a girl could have (that would be you, Summer, Bert, and Greg), life would be sorely lacking – in love, friendship and fulfillment.

And I suspect without them,  moving would really, really suck.
