I am away on vacation this week…woohoo!yeehaw! While I’m away I’ve left a few of my favorite summertime posts for you this week. Enjoy! ~Kate I have survived yet another family vacation. My family (minus one kid, plus 2 friends – for a grand total of 10 people) spent a glorious week in southern California. We had a blast spending 3 days at Disneyland, 2 days at the beach, and we even spent a day enlightening our minds at the Getty Museum. One of the highlights of every family vacation is adding to our family quote book. Is it sooooo cold at your house that you feel like you’re living in an igloo? At this very moment, it is currently 3 degrees where I live. It is beyond nippy. There’s a huge ice storm moving across the country. No school once again at Liz’s house because of the weather. Are you feeling chilled to the bone like I am? Trying to find ways to get warm and toasty without cranking up the heater? Here are a few tips to help keep you warm without turning up the thermostat this winter. Kate’s Escapades – How to Make Gourmet Caramel Apples

One of my family’s favorite fall treats is caramel apples.  We used to make regular old plain caramel apples and love them, until one vacation to Disneyland many years ago.  We discovered  Marceline’s Confectionery candy shop just outside the Disneyland gates.  We had gone to Downtown Disney the night before our adventure into the actual Disneyland park to get a taste of the Disneyland magic and build our excitement for the next morning’s trip into the  park itself. Kate’s Escapades – “On the news, a family dies”

“On the news, a family dies…” That is an actual quote from my then 7-year-old son during a vacation in Arizona.   It’s one of my favorite quotes from my family’s vacation quote book.  Yep, we actually collect random and ridiculous vacation quotes taken completely out of  context,  just because we say so many dumb things  while traveling together.  Reading through them helps us remember fun times and makes us  laugh at ourselves. Guest Rant – The Magic of Disneyland

Disneyland is my favorite place in the world. I go at least once every year, and then spend the rest of the year counting down the days until I can go back again. Whenever I hear of anyone else planning a trip, especially if they have never been to Disneyland before, I get nearly as excited as I would if I were going myself. I love to offer advice on what shows to see, what attractions to visit, and how to reduce time spent waiting in lines. After they come back, I revel in their stories.
