Kate’s Escapades – Halloween Month: Creepy Eyeball Treats & Monster Mash
I’ll be the first to admit, that when it comes to celebrating Halloween, I am just a BIG KID. I absolutely L-O-V-E Halloween. Really, what other chance does a grown, sane adult get to dress up as anything she wants and parade around town as if she hasn’t a care in the world?
On the morning of Halloween I dress up in my costume and wear it the whole entire day…to the store, to school, out for some nutritious fast food as an appetizer before the main course, which is of course, candy.
So every Thursday this month I will be bringing you fun Halloween ideas.
First off check out this funnier-than-it- should-be video of Liz, Kate, Brad, Johnny & Christian doing the Monster Mash…and then make your own.

And now for some Creepy Eyeball Treats
These scary-good Halloween treats, prepared and eaten on the same fork, begin with a doughnut hole dunked in white chocolate.

Creepy Eyeball Treats
- 2 (11 ounce) bags white chocolate chips
- 12 doughnut holes
- milk chocolate chips
- tube of red decorator frosting
- plastic forks
1. To coat a dozen doughnut holes, melt the white chocolate chips over low heat (and keep the chocolate warm while you work). With a fork, spear each doughnut hole and submerge it in the melted chocolate to coat it, then gently tap off any excess.
2. Stick a semisweet chocolate chip with its point cut off onto each doughnut hole, cut end first. Place the forks (handle side down) in a mug and allow the chocolate coating to harden.
3. Use a tube of red decorator frosting to add squiggly veins radiating out from the pupils.

hello this is very cool
but i decicided to do it a diff. way…
just place an egg in boiling water and when done, just peel until smooth white then just add a chocolate chip for the eyeball, and add red frosting as the veins =]
this is def. cool though! love it and thx!
I think eating an egg with chocolate and frosting sounds gross, though…

I tried this and the white chocolate chips went from melted to hardened before I could even put one donut hole in it. I did microwave the chocolate chips though. However I did it slowly and stirred frequently but it still did not work.
Tiffany, I seem to have better success when melting chocolate in a pan on the stove on low heat. If needed, you can keep the pan on the lowest heat while working.
When microwaving chocolate chips, however, make sure to heat at a low heat like 40% to 50% for short amounts of time and stir frequently, which it sounds like ypu did. If you heat it too much it will burn and clump. If you get any water in it (and I mean even 1 drop) it will cause it to seize and harden. I have heard adding a few drops of vegetable oil will keep it from hardening so quickly. Also, you could but the bowl of melted chocolate on a warmed heating pad to keep it melted.
Best secario, though, is to head it in a pan on the stove. Hope this helps.
My doughnut holes fell apart in the chocolate and then the chocolate hardened in the pan. Arrrggg… cute idea but I guess above my ability.
