Are there days when you feel different from the rest of the crowd? Perhaps a bit odd or special – maybe even strange? If so, you may want to take note on Jan. 10, when we celebrate Peculiar People Day.

In case you don’t feel you’ve ever been a bit peculiar at one point or another (and I would beg to differ), this

is probably a good opportunity to get away with acting, dressing or embracing your peculiarities. See Exhibit A.

For those of you who don’t own a Hello Kitty hat, here’s another holiday that may be more your speed:  Step in a Puddle and Splash Your Friends Day on Jan. 11. If I could find the originator of this one, I’d be willing to bet it would be my youngest child, who never misses the opportunity to splash in a puddle – especially if he’s wearing a new pair of shoes – and most especially if I’m standing close enough for him to drench me, as well. Proceed with caution on this day, people.

International Skeptics Day and Make Your Dreams Come True Day both land on Jan. 13, which I find a bit, uh, peculiar. I know I’ve mentioned this before, but it seems like some of these holidays share a date on the calendar for good reason. These two are no exception.

I suppose there are those constant dreamers out there – as well as the always-skeptic. So maybe this day would be a good chance to follow a dream instead of believing dreams aren’t possible. And for those who always tend to follow their dreams, you can be a little more skeptical without fear of repercussion.

In light of what a busy week this is, we’ll bring the celebrations to a close with National Nothing Day which occurs on Jan. 16. This one was the brainchild of a newspaper man (go figure). Apparently, he’d had it with the never-ending news cycle and named this holiday so he could rest on his laurels. Might I suggeset you follow suit on this date.
