I’ll admit it. I’m a fan of the whole reality show genre. I’m always game for a good episode of Survivor or Project Runway (welcome back). Over the years though, I’ve kind of lost some of my excitement for the talent-type shows, America’s Got Talent being a prime example. The “talent” just seems so homogenized, and even a tad bit boring. How many singers, dancers, magicians can we watch before we venture off to a rerun of CSI, after all?

Please remain calm on March 9. Trust me, the sky isn’t falling. It is, however, Panic Day. I tend to panic enough as it is. So let’s skip over this little jewel.
On March 10, we celebrate Middle Name Pride Day. I’m for nixing this holiday, too – never really liked my middle name (Dawne – don’t forget the ‘e’ on the end, please). Sorry, Mom and Dad. Luckily, I never use my middle name.
Next up, we have Worship of Tools Day on March 11. While I’m sure our male readers …

Here’s one of the easier cheater recipes I could imagine, born out of an “I’m starving and there’s nothing to eat” night. The best part of this is that all you need is a microwave. It’s a fairly light dish, loaded with fiber and filling.
I’ve made it before in the summer months, adding fresh tomato salsa and some green onions, but never really looked at it for a good winter dish. But I think it works any time of year.
Without further ado, here’s this week’s cheater recipe:
Black Beans and Rice

Remember when you were little and you ventured into your grandparents’ attic to look for treasures? There was something quite comforting about seeing all the old quilts and dishes and knickknacks. I could’ve stayed up there for hours on end, sifting through all that old stuff.
I’m not sure that’s what the originators of this holiday had in mind, but nevertheless, March 2 is Old Stuff Day – the perfect time to get in your grandparents’, parents’ or even your own attic and root through old stuff.
I should probably point out …

LOST Recap for Episode 6.4
“The Substitute”
Locke and Helen
This episode begins with John Locke arriving at his home in suburban LA. The wheel-chair lift on the van gives out half way down and he rolls himself onto the grass, but unfortunately lands on his face. Knowing he had just flown back from Australia where he was not allowed to go on his walk-about, and that the airline has just lost his luggage, I was prepared for Locke to be extra grouchy. Especially when the sprinklers came on. But he actually began …
