that on this week 98 years ago the “Mona Lisa” was stolen from the Louvre museum in France. After hanging undisturbed in the Louvre for more than a century, in 1911 the Leonardo da Vinci masterpiece was stolen. It was recovered two years later in Florence, Italy, after the thief, Vincenzo Perugia, tried to sell it to an antiques dealer for about $100,000.
