America’s Got Talent – Semi Finals 9/2/09 – Season 4 – Episode 412

AGTThis week marked the start of the semi-finals round.  Ten acts performed this week.  Here’s a recap of the performances and judges comments plus the results…who stays and who goes.  But first a video clip from this week’s episode of Kevin Skinner from Mayfield, KY.

The semi-finals have arrived and the acts all know that they have to risk it all to make the finals. Acrodunk opens the show with some high-flying tricks, including jumping through fire hoops. The crowd jumps to their feet, as do the judges. Piers thinks the guys are unbelievably entertaining, Sharon loves the act and their variety, and David tells the guys they have come to win it all.

The Texas Tenors take the stage and sing "Unchained Melody" for the audience. Sharon is a fan of the guys, she centers out Marcus as the leader of the group and loves his eye contact during the performance; David thinks these cowboys are ready for Las Vegas; and Piers says the guys are too cheesy for him, but then tells them they are brilliant performers.

The Texas Tenors take the stage and sing "Unchained Melody" for the audience. Episode 421 | Season 4 | 09/01/2009 Paradizo Dance take to the stage and dance to a skit about courtship and marriage. Sharon thinks the performance is cute, but she liked their other acts that involved more romance and beauty and David agrees; meanwhile, Piers admits he was a little disappointed in the performance.

Drew Thomas hopes to impress the judges with his magic the same way he did with his last performance. Piers loses his patience with the act and pushes his "X" button. Drew ends his magic act with a special appearance by his daughter. Piers thinks Drew's act is too slow, a comment that causes Drew's daughter to cry; Sharon and David assure Drew's daughter she did a great job and believe Drew has some potential.

Tony Hoard and his dog Rory hit the stage dressed up in club clothes and ready to perform. As always, Rory is in top form and performs with the music. Sharon thinks Rory delivered one heck of a performance, David thinks Tony and Rory proved they were Vegas-worthy, and Piers is happy that the act was flawless.

The Voices of Glory continue their routine of performing uplifting songs. Piers compares the sister to a younger Janet Jackson and calls her a star, Sharon is sure that the brother-and-sister trio will be in the finals, and David thinks their performance was beautiful.

The Fab Five believe this performance has to be their most important because their family is in the audience. They set the scene with a marching band theme. Piers likes the act, but would love to see them show a little more range, Sharon thinks the sisters are fabulous and David loves how the girls improve every time they take the stage.

Episode 421 | Season 4 | 09/01/2009 Grandma Lee is so happy to take the stage in semi-finals and perform her dream, stand-up comedy. Once again, she calls out Piers and David, causing them to blush. Sharon loves Grandma Lee because she's naughty and gorgeous on stage, David loves how Grandma Lee slays him with her comedy, and Piers loves that she brings new material every time.

Dancer Arcadian Broad takes the stage and dances to a High School Musical theme with back-up dancers. Afterwards, David tells him he loves the performance and the energy, but Piers believes Arcadian isn't ready for a Las Vegas center stage. Arcadian stands up for himself and says the entire act was not his idea, it was the producer's idea, and Sharon cuts Piers off and tells him he did a great job.
